Sooooo, remember last week when I posted about my Recipe Scrapbook Project? In the comments a discussion started about how we really should do a cooking challenge to help us work through our stash of uncooked recipes. I started tweeting about a potential challenge and got a few bites and then Joanna said she'd take the lead getting the post together and hosting.
Hurray!
Now we have ourselves a little Foodie Challenge. Because we're bloggers and are obsessed with challenges right?
Joanna explains the challenge on her intro post, but in a nutshell, each month pick a recipe from your stash (if you really don't have a stash then just a new-to-you recipe--but really? No unmade stash?) and whip it up. If it's good or bad, tell us about it sometime that month. At the end of the month, the challenge host (we're rotating) will do a round-up of all the posts.
Fun, right? And motivation to cook something NEW!
I really hope you'll join us!!
So course of action:
1. Head to the intro post if you're interested (yes, please)
2. Spread the word about the challenge (yes, please please)
3. Whip something up and add to Joanna's January Linky
4. Have fun!
Obvio--open to anyone and everyone! And I guess you don't have to have a blog to join but you will need somewhere where you can post your recipe thoughts. If you don't have a blog and would like to join, I'd be happy to have you guest post here (mom? will you ever read this if I don't tell you it's here?).
HURRAY!!!
What do you say? You in like Flynn? (I know, but Flint doesn't rhyme).
Happy Cooking!!!!!
This is a great challenge. I recently have started cooking because I am trying to lose weight and keep it off. I wish I would have found this last night. I used a Mccormick spice card and receipe to make chicken fajitas. I don't have a picture to put with the post. Does that matter?
ReplyDeleteI'll try and send you a couple of buttons in an hour or so. Interesting Challenge.
ReplyDeleteI'm in! So fun. And...it just so happens that I am already planning on making a recipe today. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh I might have to do this!!!! I still haven't found a great way to keep track of my recipes that I want to cook, so I don't have an unmade stash... YET.
ReplyDeleteI'm in. I have just spent the last week sorting through all my old magazines with recipes and putting them in a file. ( Blame you completely.LOL) I now have stacks of unused recipes.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like so much fun! Good luck and pass along the great recipes!
ReplyDeletedo not have a house full of recipes but I do have several bookmarks and I think this is a great idea. I am joining in the fun too. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope I will stick to it though :-|
I'm excited to participate. I'll be fun seeing everyone else's recipes too.
ReplyDelete*Brittanie - Yay! I’m so glad you’ll be joining us. ;) If you don’t have a picture for your post that’s OK—maybe you can find one online for your recipe card?
ReplyDelete*Violetcrush -Thank you SO much for the buttons!! I hope you’ll join us here and there.
*Elise - Hurrah!! Maybe give you a push to try something new for your Sunday dinners. :D
*Lu - I blame Real Simple Magazine for my unmade stash. Going through my recipes I’m realizing just how many I have—would have to cook something new every day for years to get caught up. ;) Glad you’re joining us!
*Vivienne - LOL—blame me in a good way or a bad way! So glad you’re joining us, too!!
*Michelle - When you get your computer back you need to join us! I know you love trying out new recipes—even if you are more organized than the rest of us. ;)
*Veens - Yes! Definitely use for your bookmarked recipes! They count. One recipe a month isn’t too much—you can do it! And thanks for the button.
*Kristi - I'm excited, too! Hopefully it will be fun for everyone. :)
This sounds like a great idea...and I'm sure it will be lots of fun too! I'm not the best cook but I do like to try and especially with new recipes. I'm sure I'll find some new recipes as well from this :)
