Whip Up Something New - February Links

Welcome to the February edition of Whip Up Something New! My name is Trish and I'll be your hostess (duh). Get out your untried recipes and start cooking!

How to play along:
1. Find an untried recipe from your stash (if you don't have a stash, consider yourself better organized than me and just use any new-to-you recipe).
2. Cook, create, make, or bake your new recipe
3. Post about how your recipe turned out
4. Link below and hop around to see everyone else's creation
5. Anyone can join! The more the merrier.

If you don't have a blog and would like to participate, please contact me for guest posting opportunities. I'm not sure if Facebook allows "blogging" options, but that might be another possibility.

Deadline to submit recipes for February will be the 28th of the month.  At the end of the month I'll round up all the links and create a summary post of all your creations.

Please link to your specific recipe post using the following format:
Your Name: Trish (Coconut Cake)
Your URL: http://www.lovelaughterinsanity.com/2011/01/coconut-cake-barefoot-contessas-recipe.html

#Mustworkonbeingmoreconcise.  There will be a prize this month!!  Prize is to be determined (I'll blame inclement weather as I'm currently iced in at home), but the giveaway will be available to any participant.  The winner will be chosen at random.

Now, grab a button and get cooking!

Each month Whip Up Something New will be hosted on a different blog. Please check out Joanna's introductory post to sign up to host a month or to find out who will be hosting the next month.

I also wanted to draw your attention to another cooking meme called Weekend Cooking hosted by Beth Fish Reads.  She writes: "Weekend Cooking is open to anyone who has any kind of food-related post to share: Book (novel, nonfiction) reviews, cookbook reviews, movie reviews, recipes, random thoughts, gadgets, fabulous quotations, photographs. If your post is even vaguely foodie, feel free to grab the button and link up anytime over the weekend."

Can't wait to see what you all whip up!

  3. What a great idea on a snow day, Trish! Just this morning, I made bruschetta with sauteed mushrooms from my fave Cooking Channel show, Extra Virgin. I added truffle salt and a little truffle oil because I'm obsessed with truffles! I made it breakfasty with a spinach, mushroom and bacon frittata (turned scramble!) on the side. Yum. Happy cooking everyone!

  4. hmm this is just the kind of mini-challenge that I need to put some more variety in my cooking. I knew there was a reason I asked for feedback on twitter aka my food blog! I have a hard time keeping it up but this kind of challenge sounds like fun.

  11. Today I had added another recipe (link) to my virtual stash but decided I should try it right away. So I had quinoa for the first time in my life! It was pretty good; I especially liked the lemony taste of the dish. Yay for whip up something new! :)

  13. Oops, I apologize for the double post, I forgot to add the recipe title. This challenge is so much fun. This is the third cooking challenge I've joined this year and it's definitely been keeping me on track with making new recipes and actually utilizing my cookbooks.

By the way - I volunteered to host a month but haven't heard anything. Any idea what month is mine?

  20. Oh noooos! I put in a wrong link for my sesame-crusted rice patties (#22). It should've been http://gnoegnoe.wordpress.com/2011/02/27/hello-japan-weekend-cooking-sesame-crusted-rice-patties/

Can you fix it or do you just want me to enter it again?

    Sorry for being difficult :((
