You know, I don't say this about all babies, but she is a really cute one. Good work. :)And, am I understanding this right? You said you've been back at work as long as you were on maternity leave, 24 weeks? Isn't that six months? How have you been back at work six months when Elle is only five?
Elle is just gorgeous! As far as baths go, do they still make those little ring things that suction to the bathtub for them to sit in?
She's absolutely beautiful. It also looks like she can be quite determined. :)
I love your baby update posts. She is so, so beautiful. Look at those eyes!
What a sweetie! Yes, the time *does* fly, and it looks like the three of you are enjoying every minute of it.
You are a sweet and loving mom. I love watching you be a mom, and know that Elle is so blessed. She is beautiful, and so are you. Love you..
Trish, I love these monthly posts about your sweet little one. You are going to be so, so, so glad you did these in 10 years or 20 years or 30. I remember bits and pieces of my girl's time, but I was so busy at that point after going back to work, it's tough. Take care and your little family is so precious!
Oh Trish those eyes! Sleep, it gets better. No really. By about 6 years, they can almost always be counted on to sleep all night! (Ok, so it sucks, but you get used to it. Eventually if you get one good night a week your body will revive on that.)Routine, we don't have a bedtime routine. We never have. I know it's supposed to help and all, but we are just not the kind of people who could do bath, pjs, a book, a song a kiss and good night, or whatever. This lack of routine hasn't ever been a problem for our babies, it's when they get to be 2ish and someone older introduces them to MONSTERS that we have problems.Do you have any Boynton books yet? We like Doggies best. Also Goodnight Gorilla. And Patricia Polacco's Mommies Say Shhhh!.
Yes, those eyes! Too bad about the pacifiers, but then again, you won't have to fight with her over them when she turns five! LOL
The big reason I didn't nurse my kids is because I absolutely cannot be without my sleep. I discovered this with Morrigan. If I try to stay up to feed him one night, I would get sick and be unable to function for two days, and Jason would end up feeding him. This went on for six months, and finally Jason said please, for all our sakes, can he please just feed the baby in the night? After that, Jason always did the feeding. It worked out well because he can fall asleep instantly and anywhere. He would half-sleep through feeding the babies, and fall asleep instantly when he went back to bed. I, on the other hand, take hours to go back to sleep after being awoken in the middle of the night! The boys also really liked Jason to read to them as they went to sleep at night. For some reason, they liked his voice much more than mine - I can only guess it was a because his was deeper? Or because it was different from the daytime momma voice they heard? I don't know. Either way, they liked me to sing to them during the day and Jason to read to them during the evening before bed. He read to them, respectively, The Hobbit, Little Women, and Aurora Leigh. We figured it didn't matter what they were listening to, and they would always fall asleep listening to his voice. My mom heard him reading once and said he sounded almost like a Catholic priest doing incantations. It was a very soporific (sp) voice. :D Put the boys right to sleep!
Trish, she's adorable.I know what you mean about time. We just had PJ's first birthday party this past weekend. I'm like, WTF?! He's pulling up on stuff and nearly walking. He has a dump truck he holds onto the back of and just starts walking around like he's pushing a shopping cart.Since he's mobile, he's into everything. And like you, the best thing is to watch his personality develop. He loves to laugh and actually tries to make mommy and daddy laugh. He's also very affectionate. Usually either Steph or I will put him to bed at night so he's not distracted by both of us and he's been kissing us good night on his own lately. It's just so amazing. I'm glad you and Scott are having the same experiences. Wait until she's 1!!!Pax
Love the monthly updates, and you will definitely be glad you took the time to write them! I'm already forgetting things about Emily's development, and that makes me sad! Glad the naps are improving. Tummy sleeping helped Ems alot too...or maybe it was the fact that she was eating more "real" food, or just older...who knows with babies! I'm just glad the naps are getting better and hope the night sleep is soon to follow. It is super hard to go back to sleep after feedings--seems that it's easier to lay there and think about how you NEED to be sleeping! Sleep training isn't easy, but so nice when it's over and everyone gets to sleep better!Elle is such a pretty baby! I love her dark hair and big blue eyes. It's so fun that you are seeing her little personality these days! I need to see her again--it's been too long!
My girls used to have two naps. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. How I miss those days!I never breastfed at all, but my girls still didn't sleep through the night until they were about seven months. However, I never had a sleepless night again - thank god.I can't believe how quickly the time is passing. I do so love these updates.
It is crazy how quickly time is flying! I hope you can get her on a sleep routine and get some sleep yourselves. :)
Sleep training is my least favorite part of having babies. It always stressed me out. I feel for you, but when you finally do it (when you and Elle are ready), it will be worth it.With books, I remember my oldest loving when I would read him "Hug" by Jez Alborough. It's definitely for younger kids like Elle. I think it only worked until about 18 months or so. It only has the word hug in the story, but it tells the story with pictures and I thought it was really sweet. I second the Goodnight Gorilla and Sandra Boynton books. Also, there is a series of Touch and Feel books by Dorling Kindersley. My kids loved the animal ones. There were always really vibrant pictures and really cool textures for them to feel.I love the photos. Elle is a beautiful baby, and she looks so happy! I love to hear you talk about how Scott is with her. My husband isn't very demonstrative either, and I loved to see him with our babies. It's so sweet!
I love all the photos. She's so adorable! And I think you'll be so glad that you took the time to do these monthly updates.
Those eyes! She's just gorgeous.
Love the updates. Elle is precious. Her eyes are amazing. So big & pretty & blue. Love the pic a couple up from the bottom, where it looks like she is just waking up from a nap. Ditto to the other commenters re: Sandra Boynton books. We have them and Hudson loves them. We read one or two at each nap and also add Goodnight Moon at bed time. He loves turning the pages & love to laugh as we make the noises. And ever since Hudson learned to roll, he has been a stomach sleeper. I think some (a lot of) babies sleep better that way. Sleep training is hard (SO HARD!), but when you guys are ready & do it, you will be so glad you did.
I absolutely love the monthly updates and I will never tire of seeing that sweet little face so keep 'em coming! The sleep issues are so very frustrating but once they're settled, they usually stay that way.And I knew you'd love Goodnight, Moon! As much of a chore as I know this will be - give your little chickpea a kiss and cuddle from me, would ya? cjh
She's just too cute as always, Trish! I'm sure it's hard to believe she's growing up so quickly, and you'll be so glad to have these posts as she gets older. Hopefully you print them out for a book of some kind? :)
I love those chunky little thighs and cheeks!
She's growing up so fast! Just love these monthly updates... such a little beauty.
Love all the pics, Trish! Little Elle is so beautiful!!! I love reading and viewing all the pics of little Elle. Please keep them coming! :)
She is just too beautiful! I love reading your posts, especially now; it gives me something solid to look forward to.
And she's still got the punk rock hair...love it!
Her eyes are so sparkly! I love them. I miss those happy baby days (especially now when we have a surly 7 year old). Enjoy!
She's such a doll, time does fly very quickly. She has beautiful eyes.
Trish, Elle just melts my heart. She is such a beautiful baby and those eyes of her are amazing. Thanks for sharing the pictures. It's fun to watch her grow. I sure hope you manage to get more sleep soon. Hugs.
Elle is one cute little baby who knows how to pose for the camera. Time sure does flies, but at least you have tons of pics to remember these early days. Pinch those cheeks for me :)
They just grow and grow! I cannot believe how big she is already getting (I feel like you should still be pregnant with her. LOL!) Just wait..rolling over is just the beginning and before you know it she will be crawling. The changes go so fast and these posts are the perfect way to remember your little one :) Thanks for sharing as always Trish!
I love that you're so good about these updates! I won't lie and say I don't love the pictures (she's such a sweetie!), but I also enjoy hearing about the month-by-month changes you write about :-)
I wish I had written updates too :) But she is gorgeous :) She is so beautiful and I hope everything will settle after she is 6 months and sitting :)I hope you are more relaxed than you were before :)
Great update! Elle is just the cutest, love those cheeks! She has amazing eyes.Sleep training sounds difficult but maybe the only way you're going to get quality sleep. Good luck!
What a sweety! I just want to reach through the screen and cuddle her :)
Elle is so beautiful! The expression on her face in the pictures where she's wearing the white and green flower dress is just adorable :DFingers crossed that the sleep training goes well and that she'll be sleeping through the night before too long *hugs*
You can really see Elle's personality developing in these pics! Oh those eyes - she is going to melt the boys' hearts when she is older and really learns how to use them to her advantage. Of course, she's already getting good practice on Scott!
Beeeeeeeautiful. I just love looking at her (and now I can on Pinterest too--sigh). Her eyes are yours! Love it.
So, totally random, but not totally unrelated. My mom thinks the Emma looks just like you, which I never thought until she said that, and I totally see it. Monica says that Elle looks a lot like Scott. I have never met Scott. Do you get that alot? You will be so glad that you write so much detail on these monthly updates. You may think to yourself that you will not forget certain details, but you will. This will be fun to read in a couple of years. She is so pretty. I wonder if her eyes will stay so blue or if they will change into a green or hazel.
I love these updates! I wish I was better at doing mine. I struggle with the whole posting photos on my blog/Facebook etc too. That would freak me out if mine was on Pinterest or anywhere else. Not sure why but I'm going to look into the watermark thing too. That is a good idea. Although I have a hard enough time right now fitting in just TAKING the pictures, let alone uploading them, printing them for family, posting them, PLUS adding something to them. Arg. Need to clone myself or something. :)
Just when you think she couldn't get any cuter you put more photos on here! So darned sweet.Sleep is never an easy thing. Gage still naps in our bed (bad parents!) but we have finally put our foot down on bringing him back to bed at night if he cries. I actually think it sounds like she's on about the right schedule. It wasn't until about 7 months that Gage slept 8 hours straight. Now he consistantly does 9-10.And I hear you about the food. After Gage's 2 hospital scares we have been (too) cautious with solids. Take your time, BUT once you start introducing new foods keep doing it. Gage is stuck on baby food and Cheerios. We try to get him to eat anything else and he gags or spits it out. I think we spent too long on baby food without making him try other things. We're working on it.Love these updates-even if I'm always late in reading them!
She is absolutely beautiful! I love her expressions and her gorgeous eyes!
I love her!!! She is so cute and sweet. She was great on Saturday!!! She started to get a little fussy so I stood up and bounced her for about 1 minuted before she fell fast asleep. She was a smiley face!!!
