Holiday Recipe Exchange!!
No, this isn't becoming a foodie blog, I promise. But the holidays are just around the corner and this week I'll be planning Bake Day with my mom and sister. Every year (for the past four years) we get together one Saturday in December and bake our butts off. Seriously--we mean business.
Seems that every year we make the same goodies (picture above are shortbread cookies with raspberry jam filling) and we're always on the lookout for new holiday recipes. I haven't seen a Holiday Recipe Exchange yet, so I thought I'd offer one up. I hope you'll join me!
Holiday Recipe Exchange
December 11, 2011 - January 7, 2012
To Play Along: Post a holiday recipe and link the url in the Mister Linky below anytime between now and January 7th. Can be a sweet or savory dish, dessert, appetizer, main course. Anything goes, but please keep the holiday theme in mind. If you don't have a blog/tumblr but would still like to play along, a Facebook post would work or you can email me about guest posting here.
Please list the name of the dish in the name field of Mister Linky per below:
Name: Trish (Buckeye Delights)
URL: http://www.lovelaughterinsanity.com/2011/02/betty-crockers-buckeye-delights.html
Holiday Recipe Exchange Prize: Now, to encourage you to hop around and TRY someone else's recipe, I'm going to offer up a giveaway. In order to be eligible for the giveaway, you must post your own recipe AND try another's recipe by January 15th. You don't need to post about trying the other's recipe, but you need to let me know in the comments and let the other person know you tried his/her dish.
The prize? Your choice of cookbook up to $20 value. International. I'll draw from the eligible folks randomly, but you will have one entry for each recipe you try.
I hope you'll all play along!!
Happy Cooking/Baking/Kneading/Decorating/Eating!!

Fun. I'll try to remember to link up a few more over the next month.
ReplyDeleteThis is a WONDERFUL idea! :) I know what I'm going to make, so I'll make them this week and make a post before linking up. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Trish - what a GREAT idea! I had thought I would host a cookie exchange this year, but life just got in the way for most of us. This exchange I can do!
ReplyDeleteWhile I am tempted to post a cookie recipe (because that is what I associate with "holiday baking" --- I think I might post the recipe for Spinach Bread that has been past down from my husband's grandmother and which is served every Christmas Eve night.
Fun! I actually made a yummy recipe last night that would be a perfect Christmas morning breakfast & have a few recipes in the works for this week for a get together we are having with friends. Maybe I will get things into gear and post them on the blog for the whip up something new challenge (<----FAIL!).
ReplyDeleteWhat a FUN idea! Every year I toy with the idea of hosting a virtual "Cookie Swap" for the holidays, but I never do it! [maybe next year... LOL].
ReplyDeleteI will be back with some recipes in the coming weeks! I ran out of time to do a Weekend Cooking post this weekend... but hopefully during the week.
:)
*Beth F - Thanks for getting us started off! :)
ReplyDelete*Allie - So glad you're joining!
*Molly - I am SO interested in your Spinach Bread--thanks for participating.
*Elise - Ha! Glad I could twist your arm. And I was just thinking about a breakfast dish for Christmas, so I look forward to seeing yours!
*Christine - I meant to include a blip about Weekend Cooking in the post, but this would be a great way to kill two birds with one stone!
I just tried a great molasses cookie recipe that is so good. I should try to get a good post up soon.
ReplyDeleteOoops. I didn't follow the directions properly. My link doesn't show the recipe name. It's Rugelach!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting, Trish. If I don't get around to any baking this holiday season, I'll be sure to give the recipes a try later in the year. Life is always very crazy busy for me in late December. :)
Awesome idea! I'll definitely stop by and add some links. :)
ReplyDelete*Michelle - Molasses, huh? Yum!!
ReplyDelete*Les - I fixed the link to show the title--no worries. And thanks for linking even though life is hectic. I know it's hard to keep up this time of year.
*Lisa - Yay! So glad you'll join in.
Crap! I forgot to add WHAT my recipe is with my name... my recipe is for FRUIT SLICES!!! Hope someone will want to try them. They remind me of my mother and that is a good thing. :)
ReplyDeleteAh ha! We can enter more than one recipe! :)
ReplyDeleteOops! I didn't follow directions either! sheesh... so sorry. My recipe is for spritz cookies.
ReplyDeleteMust see if I find the time to join -- 'cause I really should!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting Trish. This is fun. Happy Holidays!
