Raise your hand if you think that tomorrow (Leap Day) should be a freebie holiday? Like seriously--I'm in desperate need of an extra day in my life. I'm drowning! Just can't seem to figure out how to do it all (yes, appearances are deceiving--every time someone says that I am supermom I want to kick them a little bit). I did manage to get my haircut on Saturday, which was totally a good thing as this is how it looked at work on Friday...(I was wearing a headband but it was giving me a headache).
First, I want to thank everyone for their comments and concerns for my Silent Visitor post on Monday. Someone emailed me and very kindly noted that she had no idea that I would have noticed her silent visits (guess she thought this blog was bigger than it is...ha!) and that she has a daughter a few months younger than the babe. I don't know her personally, which actually surprised me a bit, so hopefully all is well. BUT, I did not receive any hits yesterday from said Service Provider, so I hate to think there might be someone else.
A regular commenter actually emailed me about commenting on babe posts (actually not my babe posts but I felt her comments applied). I LOVE sharing with you guys. Seriously. Of course I don't want to throw my baby at you and say "Look how cute she is!!!" but I also don't want you to feel weird about viewing this piece of my life. Obviously I want to share otherwise this whole visitor thing wouldn't have bothered me so much--I would have simply just removed those pieces from the blog.
Anyway--that wasn't the point of this post. I kind of just wanted to say hi.
Dracula Ballet was fantastic! Unfortunately only one of us thought so. But our little getaway to Fort Worth was wonderful and I can't wait for the weather to turn a bit warmer so that we can take Elle down to the Stockyards. Maybe get her a cowgirl outfit. Ha! But check out this theater--it is the Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth (edited in Instagram). Isn't it gorgeous??
I don't really have any other news. I have a Wordless Wednesday post planned for tomorrow and I'm going to try to get some kind of bookish post finished for Thursday. On Saturday Scott and I have big plans (or an announcement really) for Weekend Cooking. Sunday--I'd say that maybe I'll have my bookshelves done but right now it's mostly just cleaning up around the bookshelves and I don't have time to do that. So I'll probably just skip Sunday again.
And if you're totally on top of things and know that the babe turned TEN months on Saturday, please know that the update post is about 90% written and Scott and I had a helluva time getting her to hold still for her picture. I still need to sift through this past month's pictures and then upload. Did I mention feeling like I'm drowning??
And one more picture of downtown Fort Worth--the view of Sundance Square from our hotel room. Wish I had gotten more pictures but hopefully we'll head back soon.
Another day...

I felt that same way when my kids were babes, especially having three of them in a row. I was NOT a super mom, and was far from it, not even TRYING, but I was still drowning...
ReplyDeleteI think every young mother feels that way. Don't sweat the small stuff and remember that the best you can do is good enough.
ReplyDeletewow that building is beautiful
ReplyDeleteOh, man, I totally understand the drowning thing! And thanks for reminding me that I also need a haircut - when it gets so that I can't see through the fringe of my bangs, I know I am way overdue!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your mystery visitor sent you an email. I am not at all surprised that people would stalk those photos of Elle - she is such a gorgeous babe and you take amazing photos. But, I also understand how that kind of thing can get a bit creepy. I try not to look at my visitor stats too often - I don't really want to know if I might have a stalker out there!!!
Hope you are finding a little time for just YOU in these busy weeks. I like to shut myself into my sewing room, blast on the CD player and disappear into the fabric. Escapism at its best.
*hugs*
Awesome, that Dracula ballet sounds interesting. The BASS theater is amazing. My in-laws used to live in Fort Worth. We went to see Mama Mia there in 2006 (it was AMAZING unlike the terrible Meryl Streep movie). I think there's a brewery across the street called something like The Flying Saucer. It was really good too, I actually tried Monty Python and the Holy Ail there.
ReplyDeleteHere's a pic from my Flickr of the BASS in 2006.

I missed your silent visitor post, so apologies. Unfortunately life with my own babes has been rather difficult lately so my time has been consumed otherwise. I would seriously miss your baby posts. It takes me back to when I was young and it is lovely to watch a child grow up, even from a distance.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wonder what it would be like to toss a baby into the mix right now with everything else going on. I give props to you and anyone with kiddos for all the hard work. I can't imagine what it must be like!
ReplyDeleteDracula Ballet? Yes please!
I think there really is no such thing as a 'supermom'. The important thing is to just do the best that you can and not put unrealistic expectations on yourself.
ReplyDelete*Amanda - Man--being a new mom is tough. I sometimes feel like I try to do TOO much with my time. Definitely makes for an early evening. ;)
ReplyDelete*Bermuda - Thank you--I'm blessed to have a wonderful partner in Scott who has really stepped up to the challenge of fatherhood!
*Damned Conjuror - Isn't it a great building? The inside is gorgeous, too.
*Wendy - LOL! I had to have Scott cut the back of my hair once already--didn't want my short cut turning into a mullet. ;) And I was able to do a bit of sewing on Sunday while my mom still had Elle--was great just to blast the music and work with the fabric. Isn't it amazing how relaxing that can be?
*Paxton - Yup! The Flying Saucer. We thought about heading there after the play but I was wearing heels and didn't feel like standing in a crowded bar. ;) But glad you got to see Mamma Mia at the Bass--such a gorgeous venue! Isn't Fort Worth a fantastic city? Did you make it to the Stockyards or Billy Bobs?
*viv - LOL! With your girls growing up I'm sure you have your hands full! Those teenaged years can be rather trying. Hugs to you for sure. And I didn't want to force the private site on anyone, but if you would like access, just let me know.
*Allie - You know what--you just do it. It's hard as hell and you have to give up a LOT of YOU time, but you just do it. Dracula Ballet was a lot of fun but Scott definitely did not agree. ;)
*Kailana - I feel I've been much better lately about recognizing my limitations. As well as making sure that my little time with Elle is focused!
I can totally relate about the drowning issue, Trish! Sometimes (or most of the times?) I do feel that way too!
ReplyDeleteAnd that theater is simply beautiful!!
:)
ReplyDeleteI love random posts. I should probably do a wordless wednesday post while I have time tonight....
*wanders off*
You should feel very good about yourself that people call you "supermom!" At the very least, you give off the appearance of having it all together! It's so easy to be obviously frazzled (at least I feel that way all the time)!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed your little weekend getaway! When you say Dracula ballet, I totally picture the Dracula song on the not-so-wonderful movie, Forgetting Sarah Marshall. While the movie itself isn't Oscar-worthy, the Dracula song makes it all worth-while!
I have been looking for your 10 month post about Elle, so I'll be excited when it's up! I would be sad if you stopped posting about her, because she is so cute! I also really love reading about baby's development and progression--something I was never remotely interested in until I had one of my own!
P.S. My random thought for the day-I don't know how to stop using so many exclamation points in e-mails/comments/status comments...etc.
*Melody - Some days seem so easy but there just never seems to be enough time for everything. Glad you understand.
ReplyDelete*Care - Look forward to your WW post! I lied--will be doing a brief babe update tomorrow. ;)
*Laura - With blogging it can get easy for people to see what you want them to see--but I definitely don't get everything done that I want to or need to! Oh man--I totally know which song you're talking about. So hilarious! Scott was actually disappointed there wasn't any singing in the ballet. ;) And 10 month post will go up tonight with link tomorrow. And I LOOURRRRRRRRRRRVE !!!!! :)
You make me feel better about my own "momming" frustrations! My own mother told me that a supermom merely loves her kid. The rest is icing on the cake.
ReplyDeleteOh I hear ya! I feel like I'm drowning a lot of the time too. I decided to take more time off work , a day off here and there, to catch my breath. I'm lucky that I have that possiblity, I know that it's more difficult for you in the States. I hope you get some rest/peace soon!
ReplyDelete*Trisha - I promise that the first months will be the hardest. Not that it gets easier, just different--but certainly better. Hope all is well with you!!
ReplyDelete*joanna - I have pretty good vacation at my job, though I'm sure it's nothing like what you guys have. I get about 16 days a year, plus 10 holidays. But it seems like I mostly use days off for trips rather than personal pleasure. Need to be better about that!
I wish Leap Day was a holiday! Also, Dracula Ballet does sound amazing. I saw a play version of Dracula last year and it was so good!
ReplyDeleteHeck yeah it shoulda been a holiday! Maybe that's why it felt like Friday all day?
ReplyDeleteYay! Randomness. That is all my life consists of right now. There is no order to anything, everything is chaos!
ReplyDeleteThat performance hall is gorgeous! I love, love, love things like that. Thanks for the picture! Too bad Scott wasn't impressed with the show. At least he went with you :)
TEN MONTHS! EEk! I can't believe it. I refuse.
I love your random posts! Glad you heard from at least one of your Silent Visitors. I've been a bit silent, myself. I got super busy the week before leaving for Hawaii and then this past week flew by. I sure hope the weathwr cooperates for your trip. We had 2 days of sunshine (out of 6). It was extremely stormy the rest of the time. 40+ inches of rain (yes, in one week!), hail, damaging winds, mudslides, bridges out...and...a tornado! Suffice it to say, I'm a bit disappointed. Next time, I'll go in April and go to Maui instead of Kauai.
ReplyDeleteOh! I also meant to say that I'm glad you had fun at Dracula. My daughter and her boyfriend loved it!
Aloha! ;)
Hey girl! Sorry I haven't been by lately, but so lovely to see you! I had a feeling only one person would like Dracula ballet, but at least You guys were together and had some wonderful alone time.
ReplyDeleteLove that buildings facade. Great stone work!
