It’s back! It’s back!! After a FANTASTIC first round of Pin It and Do It Pinteresting Challenge, I’ve decided that I can’t wait all the way until October for the next round so here we are! I hope that you’ve got some undone things pinned that need doing!

If you missed #PinItDoIt Round 1, no worries. The challenge is simple: Make something(s) you pinned on Pinterest. Doesn’t matter if you pinned it last year or yesterday–and no one is going to split hairs if you pin something just so you can check it off for the challenge. Only counts if done in August.

If you’re foggy on the purpose of Pinterest, I briefly discuss in the Round 1 intro post. Of course if you have questions, ask away! And to give you more of an idea of how you can use Pinterest, check out my Pinterest Boards.

Pin It and Do It: A Pinteresting Challenge

The Details (shamelessly the same as May):
1. To participate you will choose your level and then make (or do) that amount of pins during August 2012. Challenge ends August 31st.
2. Report back on your Pin It and Do It success. On August 1st I’ll post a linky for you to link up. Ideally this will come in the form of a blog or tumblr post. Or you can post about it on Facebook or Flickr if you don’t have a blog or tumblr. Or create a board on Pinterest for this challenge. If none of the above, report your success in the Wrap-Up Post comments.
3. Anyone is welcome to join. If you need an invite to Pinterest, let me know your email address and I’ll send an invite.

The Levels:
Timid Pinner: 1-3 Pins
Pinterested: 4-7 Pins
Pin Obsessed: 8+ Pins

Some Pinterest Etiquette and Courtesies:
–If you create a pin from a post, make sure you are pinning the true URL of the post and not the main website so folks can easily find the link again.
–When you create a pin, try to include the website in the description of the pin.
–Do not include the entire recipe or instructions in the pin description.
–If you embed a pinned picture on your own blog, make it clear that it is not your original picture–a link back to the original blog post is always appreciated.

And other little tidbits...this does not have to be a food or crafting challenge. Saw an interesting photography lesson? Click! An outfit you’d love to put together? Yup! Organizing idea for around the house? Go for it! A workout Regiment? Kick butt! Really this challenge is endless–you just need to tell us what you pinned and what you did. Make sure to note the original pin wherever you complete your wrapup (or if you do progress reports) to give the originator credit and make the pin easy for others to find.

Sound like fun? Totally stress-free y’all. And admit it–some of you have been collecting pins just for this challenge, right? (ya, me too).

Sign up below and I hope you’ll help me spread the word. I’ll be using #PinitDoit on twitter.  Starting lines goes up on August 1st but feel free to get an early start if you can’t wait.

Happy Pinning! And Doing!

  1. Les

Are you back from Hawaii or were these scheduled posts? If the former, I hope you had a fantastic time. Can’t wait to see some pictures!

In theory, I love your challenges. The reality is, I never accomplish much and feel like a slacker. I won’t even tell you what page I’m on in The Stand…

I don’t think I managed to complete a single “Pin” for the first challenge, so I’ll just make a mental note to try harder this time around. I need to focus on the recipes, so I’ll start there.

Off to see what I’ve missed here on your blog.

    • *Les – trust me that I know first hand that things come up and life can get sticky. No worries–I love a good challenge but I also like for them to be stress/pressure free. (as I try to cram in 150 pages of The Stand this week!). We got back from Maui on Saturday and I WILL post pictures (one day)…there are about 700 of them to sift through. ;) anyway–if you happen to do something you pinned in August tell us about it. Otherwise, no stress.

  2. I’m sure your trip was wonderful. It’s on my bucket list, I do however think I’ll be in Hawaii as a ghost. Hopefully there are such things as ghosts. I just want to say, I’ve visited your Pinterest and love the revolving bookcase, how or where do I get one. I can cut wood, and I’m married to handy Andy. I don’t understand how to reach the source of the pin. I’m a old broad remember.

    • *Irene – Ideally if you click on the pin it should take you directly to the source. Unless it was pinned from a random picture and unfortunately I think many of the bookshelf pictures are just random pictures. I need to do some culling of the Pinterest boards and make sure to delete any that have deadlinks. Sorry about that! But hope your Handy Andy Hub can whip you up something!

  3. I successfully completed the last challenge, but I didn’t have time to make a wrap up post. I might participate again to focus on some recipes I want to make :) But August is a busy month for me. Hopefully I will make it.

  4. I actually completed the last one but never posted about it… We’ll be travelling a lt in August so I won’t sign up but I’m looking forward to what everyone does!

  5. Gah! I am the worst. I didn’t end up posting anything when you did it last time. I actually did a few things that I’d pinned but never got around to posting about it. I will this time. At least I hope so. My kids start school in two weeks and then I will have much more time for blogging. Thanks for running the challenge again!

  6. *Yay!! I’m so glad to see so many of you guys back for the fun. Can’t wait to see what you decide to do in August!

  7. Ugh…why’d you have to do this Trish? :p I was just telling Heather that I’ve avoided Pinterest because I really canNOT get addicted to another website, but this challenge tempts me SO MUCH!

  8. Okay, I’m not sure this will count… or work! I have to write half a book in the month of August. I kid you not. I’m so far behind. (Please don’t tell my editor.) In any case, the url I’ve signed up for #PinitDoIt with is to the board for my new series. I need to write half of the first book in that series by the end of August. All the photos I pin to that board are inspirations of some sort, so it’s the board rather than one specific pin for me. So, does this count? :)

    • Katharine – I’d so go for it. But if you happen to throw in something in addition that would be fun, too. One of the great things about the challenge is sharing some of the creativity with the other participants but that will be hard to do (at least at the end of August) with your book. Good luck with your deadline!

  9. Can I just tell you how excited I was to see that I had actually pinned some of the books that I’m taking on vacation? If I do this right, I could be more than half way to my goal by the time I get home!

  10. Sooo excited to join this time! I watched from the sidelines in May and am happy to be a part.. thanks for hosting such a fun challenge!

  11. So addicted to Pinterest and will sign up as Pinterested: 4-7 Pins. I’m just starting a quilt from a pin that I did back in March. I hope to finish this next week.

  12. I love pinterest and am just getting back into blogging again. I will participate in the next challenge! I have one board dedicated to professional ideas that I plan on trying as I will be working with preschoolers this year which is such a fun age. Great idea Trish…I will be back to see more of your posts as I saw something about Hawaii!!!
