Says “ease” for please and taps her hand on her chest or says “momo” for more and does the ASL gesture.
Brings me Barnyard Dance because it's her favorite but still has troubles sitting through an entire reading.
Is fascinated by the water going down the drain after her bath.
Loves to hold and chew her own (separate) toothbrush while I brush her teeth at night.
Thinks the horse sound is the funniest.
Is thrilled by hide and seek though I’m so fearful she’s going to slam her fingers in the jamb while hiding behind doors.
Makes me work for every single smile, little stinker.
But is also so ticklish and gets the biggest grin when I come at her with the tickle fingers.
Prefers fruit and cheese and sometimes pasta but rarely meat.
Goes to bed easily at 7:45 even if we are giggling madly before I put her in her crib.
Still becomes inexplicably calm when I sing Hallelujah. Which inexplicably makes me cry every time.
Always looks to me before doing something mischievous to gage my reaction. Like dropping food on the floor during dinner.
Will wear bows until upset or eating something and then her little fingers finds the offending bow and pulls it out.
Is off the bottle. Can’t believe we waited until 14 months!
Loves to give kisses to her stuffed animals and Lexi dog but won’t give any to mommy!
Sings “row row” part of Row Row Row your Boat and “sings” along to other songs I sing.
Knocks over blocks as fast as I can get them stacked up.
Climbs on EVERYTHING. Up and down the stairs. Up and down the chairs/sofas. Down the bed. On the Dog. Up my feet.
Will usually go back to sleep when she wakes up in the mornings except when she drops her blankie over the crib (growls mommy).
One minute prefers mommy and the very next daddy and then right back to mommy and then….on and on.
Is feisty and the first to let you know when she disagrees but also the best sport.
Knows the word "no." Sounds like Nahw nahw nawh nawh nawh.
Has discovered temper tantrums and will throw herself on the ground when she doesn’t get what she wants. It’s pitiful and frustrating. But also sometimes hard not to laugh.
Loves other kids. Loves. But sometimes takes a while to warm up to adults. But rarely discriminates or fusses when passed to a stranger.
Is just as curious as she’s ever been—she doesn’t miss a single beat.
Constantly talks to herself. I’m sure her stories are very interesting but I can’t understand a word of the babble. Ha! She does say a few words but chooses not to say them often. I think she’s waiting until she can talk intelligibly in full sentences.
Has 12 teeth and a few more are threatening to come in.
Is my little chickpea banana who is growing entirely too quickly. I'm not sure when Elle stopped being my baby and started being my little girl.
I really can't stand it.
Hopefully not another 4 months before I write up another update.

Trish, that picture of her with the ball is just precious! What a cutie. My own "baby" turns 5 years old today--hard to believe it has gone by so fast.
ReplyDeleteLoved reading the update. All of the photos are cute but the last is my favorite -- she looks more like mom every day:0
ReplyDeleteLOVE this update!!! She is adorable! Those eyes are full of laughter and curiosity, aren't they? OK, to your list...
ReplyDeleteBarnyard Dance was a favorite when I was "nanny" to my nieces. I can still "recite" it from memory. I always read it with an upbeat tempo and the girls loved it.
Hallelujah makes me cry every.single.time, too.
In 14 years, you won't remember how old she was when you weaned her from the bottle. When it comes to stuff like this, I always say, "You've never seen a college-age kid wearing diapers or sucking his thumb/pacifier." Try not to worry too much about these "milestones." :)
"Nahw" sounds very southern! :)
She sure looks like her mama.
*Les - The best piece of advice I have received is from my mom's best friend. I was lamenting over the fact that at three months Elle was still napping in her swing as I was about to come off maternity leave and she go to daycare. She said, "Trish, that girl is not going to go to college in the swing" and that has always stuck with me. Isn't that the truth...sometimes we get so caught up in the moment that it feels like this little bitty piece will last forever. For better and worse.
DeleteWhat a little charmer! And you are going to be so glad you wrote down all these little tidbits about her life. In 17 or 18 years, you'll read over them and be able to bring back the memories. Her hair is definitely taking on it's "little girl" color. And Les is right about the "milestones". LOL
ReplyDelete*Kay - It's amazing how quickly those tidbits disappear! If I don't write them down they're gone too too soon. :(
DeleteWhat a wonderful post!
ReplyDeleteAs Kay said, you'll be glad you've recorded these little details. Time passes so quickly.
Thanks for sharingQ
This was such fun to read, Trish. And oh my, how grateful you'll be later that you wrote all these things down. You think you'll remember everything, but you just don't.
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious little one! I can tell she is bringing much joy into your life and I'm glad you're cherishing the moments.
ReplyDeleteMan, she is just adorable Trish. You can tell from that first picture that she has some attitude :)
ReplyDeleteAwwwww. What a sweetie. I love the update and like her feistiness.
ReplyDeleteShe is just adorable! 14 months is terrific, I think. Ask me who still has a pacifier. :)
ReplyDeleteHooray for an Elle update! It was so great to see her (and you two) at Ikea! Michael couldn't get over how BIG and BLUE her eyes are. :) We then lamented the fact that our kiddos eyes are going to be very small and squinty like ours. We might have to keep them away from Elle so they won't get jealous. She sounds absolutely perfect and I think you can call her your baby until she's at least 12! :)
ReplyDeleteHooray indeed, I was wondering what was up with Elle. If you think she's growing too fast now, wait, she'll be wanting to date all too soon. Wonderful to sit back and watch and listen to how you are enjoying your little princess.
ReplyDeleteThis was amazing. I wish I had a record like this of my boys who are getting SO OLD.
ReplyDeleteWhat a little darling -- I know she is the light of your life!
ReplyDeleteO so cute! My little guy is 14 1/2 months and I love seeing how they do similar things and how they do things differently. She is so adorable.
ReplyDeleteaw, she is so cute! What a wonderful post!
ReplyDeleteShe's a doll! They do grow up so fast. My daughter's favorite book was Barnyard Dance, too. How cute!
ReplyDeleteLOVE HER. Love you too sissy. Was so great spending time with both of you (and that funny husband of yours!) all together in paradise <3 <3 xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteShe has grown so much! And is just as adorable as ever, Trish. :-)
ReplyDeleteI will have to try that toothbrush trick. She sometimes will cooperate, but mostly won't. LOL
*Wendy - LOL! I'm not sure that the toothbrush trick is that much better but I just keep trying and hoping that one day it'll get easier to brush her little teeth!
DeleteShe is SO adorable! Love your update.
ReplyDeleteShe is just so darn adorable, I can't stand it. So so sweet. I love that you keep up with these little and big things. So fun.
ReplyDeleteOh my! What an adorable little girl! I can't believe she's gotten so big already. I love that you sing to her too. I sing to my little girl and I cry almost every time, can't help it. ;o)
ReplyDeleteShe is so beautiful! Thanks for sharing her pictures. :)
ReplyDeleteSo, so, so adorable. 15 months was one of my favorite ages. Lovely days.
ReplyDeleteSo precious - every picture and every one of your observations. She is growing up so fast!
ReplyDeleteShe's so cute! Love those big blue eyes!
ReplyDeleteShe's just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteShe is just so adorable! Mine doesn't like meat either, except hot dogs (I always feel guilty when I let her eat them though).
ReplyDelete*Jeane - Hot dogs work ok for us--but like you said I don't really want to give them to her all the time. I might try beans and see if that works better so she can get in her protein. She loves eggs but I know she can't eat eggs for every meal!
DeleteAnd still cute as a button!
ReplyDeleteShe's so cute, and sounds like she's lots of fun! Isn't it so great when they start talking and imitating your words? (and scary because you really have to start watching what you say :) ) I love and have missed the Elle updates!
ReplyDelete*Elle says thank you for all of the nice things you've said. Actually we're working on "thank you" but the result is usually her just staring me down with the "really mom?!" look. But seriously thank you. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gods! She is adorable and getting so big. I can't stand it.
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful Trish.
She sounds like one mischievous cookie! So adorable :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute! The door thing has always scared me with my kids. Especially when there's more than one and their chasing each other and slamming doors. Ah! Gets my heart racing.
ReplyDeleteIt's really hard not to laugh at the tantrums. It makes me laugh because my five year old will put her hands on her hips and stamp her feet when she gets upset with me. I just do it back to her and tell her I can stamp louder and it usually ends with her laughing.
Sign language for kids is just great! My daughter could tell us a few things with signs as early as 9 month old and it wassooo useful. Can't wait to start that with my son.
ReplyDeleteBut oh wait, time already flies so fast, maybe I'll just be happy to wait ;-)
Your daughter is very cute!
Too much gratuitous adorableness in one sitting! :-) Despite the sleep deprivation, I really miss the toddler years. Maybe, in part, because enough time has passed that I've forgotten how much work it is. ;-)
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, this is such an incredible age. By the way, my 8-year-old still has tantrums, and they're not so funny anymore. But you probably didn't want to hear that, did you? :-D
She is so precious. And I'm impresed at your photograghy skills. Gage is killing me. He never looks for more than a second when I want him too.
ReplyDeleteShe is doing great for 14 months! Gage has only started giving really good kisses in the last few months (he'll be 22 months on Monday) so be ready to cry when she starts. Gage isn't talking much but he does his own version of 'love you' after he tells me night-night. Absolute favorite part of my day :)
She does get more beautiful every time we see her!
She really is a little girl now...and developing her very strong, very Elle personality! But still just as adorable as ever!
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been commenting, Trish! I just logged onto my Google Reader and it exploded, LOL.
ReplyDeleteWow, look how she grows and how adorable she is now! :-)
I can't believe how big she is getting! It all just goes by way too fast! I've always loved these posts though so once again thanks for sharing!
