August Pin It and Do It Round Up!

First--thank you so much to all of those who participated in the August Pin It and Do It!! I'm excited for the new folks and the veterans and check out all of these great pins below! Lots of foodie things and several crafts and other ideas as well. I hope you don't mind my linking to Weekend Cooking but thought some of you might be interested in the food pins--and also some of the Weekend Cooking folks were kind enough to join in the fun.

Heather @ Based on a True Story made Hi Hat Cupcakes - basically cupcakes topped with whipped fluff dipped in candy coating. I know--yum, right?!

Joy Weese Moll from Joy's Book Blog used a pin she found to create a post-it notecard tracker in order to help her work on her NaNoWriMo project. Who doesn't love visual motivation?! She also made Magic Shell Chocolate Sauce--you know, the chocolate that hardens upon contact with ice cream? You won't believe how easy she says this is to make!

Nupur from One Hot Stove created fun monogrammed stenciled bags to use as personalized gifts. They look easy and are very customizable.

Jenna @ Little Bird Reads made somezucchini boats that she found on Pinterest. I know that if I added enough cheese Scott would love these. She also completed 3 more pins including campfire burritos, Listerine bug spray and a cute chip clip holder. Not sure about the bug spray but the others sound great! Also look at these cute little Harry Potter (p)inspired party favors.

Kristina @ Kristina's Favorites Summer Pasta made a based on Jillian Michael's Master Your Metabolism Cookbook. All of the ingredients are fresh and would make for a perfect lunch meal. She also made Chicken Fajitas and completed a Laundry Room Makeover!

Linda from Silly Little Mischief was busy in August with lots of projects. She made delicious looking Hamburger Kababs. Now I'm off to google tzatziki sauce. She also made bake granola bars made some no that did not turn out as well as advertised. Anyone know of a great granola bar recipe for her? Then she had a double failure but came back with peanut butter cup brownies and Sweet Chicken Bacon Wraps and Easy Mac and Cheese.

Kailana @ The Written World made ravioli in the slow-cooker. AND used some crockpot liners that someone (me) sent her. :) This would make a great fall day dish.

Carol from Carol's Notebook made jalapeno popper grilled cheese using cream cheese! They look really great and what a creative twist to regular grilled cheese.

Chrisbookarama had a lazy weekend and made some Lemon Brownies, Crochet coasters, and a little crocheted lobster (Care...did you see that?!). Chris completed the challenge with two more pins including a book read and something called Blueberry Grunt (bahaha!)

Stacy from Stacy's Books had a little bit of kid fun and food fun as part of her Pinterest projects. You know those Pasta hotdogs you've seen pinned a million times? Yup, she made them!

Lisa from Lit and Life shows us how we can use our Pin Boards for organizing our trips and outings as well as our TBR. She kept all of her Minneapolis plans on a pin board for easy access during vacation. She also made a granola recipe that seemed to please her family and also read another book from her To Be Read pinboard - "Sea Escape".

Flora @ A Work in Progress was also busy in August--she had several projects including motivational marbles, shrimp skillet, taco bites, and a photo collage. I love the idea of a visual motivation that is also pleasing to the eye and her taco bites look delicious.

And Trish (ME!) did several pins but only had a few successes--most notably the little hair pins that I made for the babe. Although...this past week I did make a cheesecake that was absolutely to die for. I made a Brownie Cheesecake from Just a Pinch (although with a different crust). Brought half the pie up to work and it was gone in about 15 minutes. Sorry for the iphone pic--didn't think to snap a real picture before it was devoured!

Thank you so much to all the folks who joined in for the August round of Pin it and Do it. I hope that you'll all be back for the October challenge.

Have you had any Pinterest successes lately? I hope that you'll visit some of these folks and maybe be Pinspired to create something new!

Every weekend, Beth Fish Reads hosts Weekend Cooking.  "Weekend Cooking is open to anyone who has any kind of food-related post to share: Book (novel, nonfiction) reviews, cookbook reviews, movie reviews, recipes, random thoughts, gadgets, fabulous quotations, photographs."  Hope you'll join the fun!

  4. I don't think I looked at Pinterest at all in August. Which is probably a good thing! I did pin something to do when we went to Bend (a bookstore), but it was kind of a bust and I flaked on posting about it.

  5. Fabulous wrap-up post. I once again failed. Maybe a winter month would work for me (who am I kidding?).

  7. I am a Pinterest newbie and am gradually figuring out how I want to use it. Have a great week.

  8. That cheesecake looks AMAZING. I do love Pinterest for storing recipe ideas, but I rarely cook from them - I'm better about baking. And I often alter the recipes so much that I can't really claim more than inspiration from a pin...

  13. So many participants! I'm ashamed to say that I have yet to follow up on one of my own pins :(

And again, your cheesecake... to die for!

  14. OK. That does it. I can see that my determination to avoid Pinterest has been misguided. Time to pin, at last.
