Right Now I Am… [2.24.14]

Listening To: “Let it Go” by Idina Menzel from the movie Frozen. Elle is utterly obsessed with the song (which is weird because she has never taken an interest in the radio before). I’m thinking I’m going to use this as an opportunity to introduce her to all the musicals ever.

Reading: Graphic Novels! I devoted February to reading graphic novels and so far I’ve read eight!! My favorite so far is Relish with Castle Waiting as a close second (or maybe tied). I hope to read a few more before the month is through and then I’m seriously considering taking a break from reading for all of March.

Eating: Fage Greek Yogurt. Holy yum, y’all. When I first started eating Greek yogurt I opted for Chobani (not sure why) but this is so so so so delicious. Seriously.

Watching: The Olympics! Ok, so I only watched figure skating and only portions of it but it was fun watching and I’m sad they’re over. Evie is finally starting to go down earlier and easier in the evening so we’ll probably start binge watching a new show in the next month or so. Scott is voting for 24. I’m voting for Friday Night Lights.

Making: In the big home organization huzzah my focus for February is my craft room. It’s also the scariest room of the house. To create more storage for alllllll the crafting/sewing things, I made half shelves for my Ikea Billy Bookshelf. Scott cut the wood for me but I did the rest. I’m quite proud!

Planning: All the things to do this spring and summer! We bought a camper so that will be the bulk of my immediate trip planning.

Feeling: Good! I thank the weather. We had a gorgeous week last week and while we’ll be back in the 40s and 50s this week a little sunshine did the body good. I’ve also started running a little bit. Exercise is a hard habit for me to start but once I start I remember how much I enjoy it.

Loving: The Bradford Pear trees are starting to bud. Can’t wait for those blossoms to burst.

Wanting: A margarita. For no other reason than I want one. :)

Thinking: It’s going to be a hot summer. I’m trying to brace myself for this now. As much as I hate the cold, I fear the potential of 70 days above 100 degrees like we had in 2011.

Looking Forward To: Day Light Savings. Springing forward is a big adjustment for me but I can’t wait for that extra hour of light in the evening.

Would love to hear what YOU are listening to, eating, watching, reading, making, planning, feeling, loving, wanting, thinking, and looking forward to.

  1. Oh my gosh a comaper! The hubs and I have been thinking about getting one, but don’t know how much we’d actually use it. Still thinking, so I can’t wait to hear about your excursions :-)

  2. I feel the same about exercise… can’t wait until the snow melts so I can walk outside again. Just hate the treadmill!

  3. I think I remember you telling me when I first starting eating Fage that you didn’t enjoy it much. Glad you’ve changed your mind! (unless I’m just crazy and that wasn’t you!) Also: Looking forward to DST too!!

  4. Your bookshelf looks amazing!! I wish I could do that with mine, but I am SO not crafty in that sense. You’re doing great with all of your organizing … want to come do my house next? :) I *did* clean out my tupperware cupboard recently, so you’re inspiring me just a bit!

I can’t wait for the nicer temperatures. Currently it’s -34 outside, which is NOT cool (well, literally, I guess it is …). I really wish the baby and I could get out for walks during the day, rather than being cooped up in the house.

Oh, and margaritas … mmm. I’ve been craving a beer!

  5. Just one word of advice – be careful of the musicals you introduce Elle too because you never know which one she’ll latch on to. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I listened to the soundtrack of Oliver! I am so ready for summer, even if it is a hot one.

  6. I have missed daylight savings time more this year than ever before. Greyson loves playing outside in the evenings, and David will be here as of next week. I see those two playing in the garden A LOT over the next many months.

  7. I can’t imagine purposely taking a month off reading… Sometimes, for me, it happens accidentally! And, yeah, I always love DST! Winter is dark and dreary, so it makes it better when we switch. :)

  8. I haven’t seen Frozen and I haven’t heard Let it Go. I should YouTube the song but haven’t yet.
I can’t wait for Daylight Savings Time. I’m looking forward to an extra hour of daylight.

  9. I don’t think one needs a reason for wanting a margarita! :) I love your craft shelving, Trish–way to go! I think I may be the only person on the planet who doesn’t love longer daylight hours. Me–I love days as short as possible with all the darkness I can get. And I swear I’m not a vampire–I just find the dark comforting. And Trish, what a lot of yummy comics you’ve read this month–YAY YOU!!! :D

  10. Your craft room is looking good, mine is a disaster. I stalling today, I need to get up and make a few cards for my seniors. I agree with dastevensish, you don’t need a reason to want a margarita.

  11. Don’t even say the words let it go! That song will be stuck in my head for days!
I didn’t watch any Olympics. What does this make me? Not sure.
That craft room looks awesome, but you do know that craft rooms are SUPPOSED to be messy, right? :)

  12. We went to see Frozen in the theater this weekend–Mouse’s first theater experience. It went really well–except for the abominable snowman. She was afraid of him and had to step out of the theater for a little while until he was gone.

I tried to watch the Olympics, but Mouse makes just about any tv watching other than her own impossible. So, while my husband watched, I got to catch glimpses in between tea parties, puzzles, and games. Not that I’m complaining. Maybe just a little. LOL Mouse also makes it impossible for me to watch tv in the evenings. She is my evenings–we usually go to sleep together since I get up so early.

  13. Listening to: St. Vincent by St. Vincent. Reading: The Watchman by Robert Crais later this afternoon. Blogs like yours this morning. Eating: Nothing right now. Drinking an iced coffee. Watching: Dallas Buyers Club last night. A-may-zing! Making: House cleaner here too. Cleaning out boxes of books still. Planning: To see Sherman Alexie on Tuesday, if weather cooperates (again, canceled previously because of snow, may be again). Feeling: Pretty good considering the weather, which continues to be cold here. Loving: My cat lying next to me on the desk while I’m reading. Wanting: A margarita now too…thanks a lot. Maybe this weekend. Thinking: I’m glad I live in Pennsylvania and not Texas — for the summer months anyway. :) Looking forward to: Day Light Savings too.

  14. Shh, do not mention that summer lest it return! :) I don’t love cold weather but I keep telling myself remember what the summers are like! And, I love fage greek yogurt too! It’s my go to choice. Congrats on getting so many graphic novels read for the month!

  15. Your shelves look great – how nice to have them just right for what you need. I would KILL for temps in the 40’s and 50’s; we’re having record lows for the next few days. So. Over. It. You’ll just start getting Evie down earlier then we’ll get daylight savings time and she’ll suddenly be up an hour later all over again!
